
Kayli Kimura is a Japanese-American visual storyteller, matcha lover and dog mom. She was a 2023-24 Armed with a Camera Fellow with Visual Communications and was selected as a mentee for Asian American Collective & Symphonic Women Empowered Mentorship Programs. Her documentary short film, sansedai, won Best Documentary Short at Barbados Independent Film Festival and is currently screening in numerous film festivals around the world. She has worked on a variety of commercials, TV shows, documentaries and music videos including projects for Netflix, Hulu, PBS, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Telfar, A$AP Rocky, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Adidas.
Her work with Nigerian-American artist, AKINYEMI, has been recognized in Rolling Stone, Billboard, Lyrical Lemonade, Office Magazine, Wonderland Magazine, Earmilk, and Flaunt.
Kayli was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado and is currently based in Los Angeles though is often traveling the world and documenting her adventures on her YouTube channel, Kayemi Studio. She graduated from Bowdoin College in Maine with majors in Sociology and Environmental Studies and a minor in Music. She also studied cinematography at Maine Media Workshops and College in their cinematography intensive program.
